Using Android’s Facebook app

Using Android’s Facebook app
It’s the biggest social network and it’s available on your phone

There is no getting away from Facebook – it has rapidly become a way of life for millions of people. What’s more, research has found that people who use Facebook on their mobile phones are twice as active on the social networking site.
One of the reasons for this is convenience. The well-designed Facebook app has been created to make good use of the smaller Android screens but, more than that, it makes it simple to update your status and keep in touch with others.

Facebook Stay updated on the move

1: Your initial stepsDownload the Facebook app for free from the Android Market and launch it. You will be asked to sign in with your email address and password and the app will immediately take you to the news-feed page. You can scroll through to read your friends’ status updates.

2: Viewing the home screen
Clicking the Back button on your phone will take
you to the home screen of the  Facebook app. From here you can tap one of nine options, allowing you to go to the various features which make up the site. Notifications will appear at the bottom of the screen.

3: Check-in via your phone
One of the handiest features is Places, letting you check into a location so that you can see who is around you and let friends and others know where you are. Tap the Places icon on the home screen, then tap Check-in in the right corner and choose a
location from the options.

4: Get in touch
As well as an inbox for personal messages, the Facebook app enables you to chat with your friends in real-time. You can see who is available and who is idle. Simply tap on the name of the person you wish to communicate with and fire off an instant message.

Upload a photo from your phone

Share your favourite pictures with others

Open up the Gallery app on your phone and select the picture that you wish to put up on Facebook. Alternatively, you can take a photograph using the Camera app and tap on the image.

If you are using the Gallery app, tap the on-screen Menu button and select Share. If in the Camera app, tap Select. You will see a host of options in both instances, including one for Facebook. Tap it.

You will be taken to the Facebook app. The selected image will be displayed and beneath it will be a box into which you can type a caption. Once you have done so (if you want), click Upload.
