Install a new launcher on your Android

Install a new launcher on your phone
Replace your home screen and application launcher using an app called LauncherPro
If you’ve ever thought about replacing your entire home screen, then it’s worth considering LauncherPro. It’s a free app (although a premium version is available) which allows you to have three home screens (and an option of up to seven), splitting each one so that useful icons always sit along the bottom, such as contacts and messaging.
In essence, LauncherPro replaces the stock launcher application of Android. This is the part of the operating system which lets you browse through your home screens and open apps. It doesn’t completely alter your phone out of all recognition. You will be as instantly familiar with the way it works, but there are some useful features, such as being able to zoom out with a pinch-zoom to see all your home screens at once, and as a more lightweight launcher it can also be much faster than those offered by many handset manufacturers. It is a feature-packed application, and gives you almost limitless potential for customisation on your phone.
LauncherPro  : Give your phone a new look
1: Download LauncherPro
Your first step is to head to the Android Market to download and install the LauncherPro app. Once you have done this and pressed a button on your phone, you will see a menu asking if you want to ‘Complete action using LauncherPro’ or use your default launcher.

2: Getting started with it
If you choose to complete the action with LauncherPro, your home screen will look a little different. You will see that there are five icons on the button in a dockbar that you can customise. These include direct icons for the web browser and the phone.

3: Change the preferences

To start playing around with the preferences,
click on the Menu button on your phone. You will see a setting called Preferences and when you click on it, you will see a host of options including potential alterations to the home screen, dock, appearance and behaviour.

4: Home-screen settings
If you choose the home-screen settings, then you can make an immediate change to the number of screens that you have to play around with. You can also choose how many columns there are on the home screen and even the transition effect.

5: Keeping up appearances

Likewise, the appearance settings will allow you to personalise the way your phone screens appear, with options to change the dock background and others. To uninstall the app, go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and click on LauncherPro.
