Installing widgets For Android

Make use of a host of brilliant and useful widgets for Android
One area of the app world that is almost unique to Android are widgets – which are one of the many advantages Google’s OS has over its rival.
Widgets permanently take up part of your phone’s screen and they perform a specific function, be it telling the time or giving you a weather forecast, without having to open an app. These ensure you always have essential information. A warning, though: have too many and they may eat up bandwidth and battery life.

System : Add widgets to your home screen

1: Adding a widget
There are two ways of adding a widget to your Android phone. You can press the Menu button and tap the Add function; alternatively, you can find an empty space on your Android home screen and press, holding down long enough for a pop-up menu to appear.

2: Select the Widget option
Whichever method you choose from the first step, the outcome will be the same: you will see a menu screen entitled ‘Add to Home screen’ which lists a variety of options – they are Shortcuts, Widgets, Folders and Wallpapers. You will want to tap Widgets in order to continue with this guide.

3: Finding a widget
There are many widgets to choose from, already built into your phone, including audio options, clocks, a calendar, picture frame, traffic and YouTube. Make your selection (we’re going to chose an analog clock) and the result appears on your home screen in all its glory.

4: Moving the widget
By holding down on the widget for a short time, you will then be able to move it. You can also quickly delete the widget, as you would an app or folder: hold down on it and you’ll be able to move it to the trash can that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Change your phone wallpaper
Give your home screen a fresh new look
Click the Menu button and select Wallpaper. This will bring up three options: Gallery, Live wallpapers and Wallpaper. Selecting each option will show you a different selection of images.

Select Gallery to use a personal picture from your photo library. Tap the one you want, use the box to define the part of the image you wish to use, save it and it will appear as your wallpaper.

Live wallpapers are animated, such as a swirling galaxy of stars. You can also make use of stock still images under the Wallpaper option. In both cases, tap the image that you want to apply.
